what is an IT technicianA PC support technician is a professional who does troubleshooting, maintenance, installation and repairs of computer hardware and diagnoses software issues. The professionals are usually available to provide technical assistance and support to any employee using a PC for work.

A certificate or associate's degree in a related area, such as information technology, computer science, or desktop support, may help individuals qualify for a computer support position. These programs teach students the skills that enable them to provide technical support to clients and customers.

The Desktop Support Technician's role is to support and maintain organizational computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. That includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all organizational hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance.
